Tissot Watches - Swiss made watches now in India

Watches for everybodyOver the years, buying Swiss made watches has been a luxury for Indians. Either a cousin or friend coming down from abroad would carry a watch for you or you would have to pick it up on your holiday abroad. Today, with the opening up of the Indian market, the consumer has been confronted with the problem of choosing from amongst the large variety of watches which are available. One of the favorite watch brands to have hit the Indian market is Tissot which is part of the Swiss watchmaker, Swatch.

According to Ulrich Fischer, Vice President Asia-Pacific of Tissot, "Tissot watches have enjoyed brand loyalty in the Indian subcontinent. For years, discerning customers from India have been purchasing Tissot watches abroad. Now Indians have the opportunity to buy these high quality, stylish products in India." One of the most distinguishing feature of Tissot watches is the manner in which technology, design and price has been blended making the product a highly attractive item. The Tissot philosophy 'Trust only in true values' has today become synonymous with one of the most innovative time keeping devices in recent years.

In India the product range comes in three categories - Regional, Sport and Chic. Targeted at the various sections of society, Tissot watches are available in 140 countries all over the world and hopes to capture the market in India and China. Tissot is the manufacturer of the first anti-magnetic watch, the first plastic watch (Idea 2001), the first watch made of stone (The Rochwatch) and even the first watch made of wood (The Woodwatch).

Considered to be expensive, Tissot has made watches available for between Rs. 3000 and Rs.23,000. Tissot entered the Indian market with 50 designs and today it has over 80 designs available at the leading watch stores all over the country. The other brand portfolios of Swatch include Longines and Calvin Klein, among others.
